SCRUB SMART
Clean the screen with a
soft bristle brush w
ith
an extension handle.
Apply diluted detergent
and scrub gently to
prevent stretching the
screen. Rinse.
SMALL-SCALE
REPAIR Small holes
can be sealed using
clear fingernail polish.
Begin by smoothing
the torn fibers into
place, then apply one
or more coats of polish
to each side of the
damaged area.
LARGE-SCALE
REPAIR Large holes or
tears are best handled
by replacing the entire
damaged section. Start
by removing molding
and the screen section,
and then staple anew
screen (cut to size) in
place. Pull the screen
tight evenly on each
side to avoid wrinkles.
Replace molding.

This porch is just as suited
for
year-round living as it is for summer lounging. A
wood-burning stone fireplace commands attention
on one side of the porch, providing a focal point and
making the space usable all year long. (Check your
city’s building codes before installing a fireplace.)
Columns, corbels, and the paneled fireplace wall
give the room strong architectural details.
GREAT OUTDOORS
A peaked roof and
matching trim keep
this addition in step
w
ith the rest of the
home. Landscaping
and a patio augment
the new
exterior.
